Seemed like a good idea at the time?

I love this from ZDNet UK: "Internet Explorer is more secure than Firefox, according to a senior Microsoft executive... but critics say his study is flawed."

Surely not? That has to be the most understated use of the word "flawed".

The article actually goes on to question the methodology in some detail but personally I really can't get beyond a far more obvious flaw in all of this: 'Microsoft is more secure, says Microsoft'.

I'm not quite sure what nutshell of credibility the software giant was hoping to crack by releasing this report itself but given the frenzied welcome which normally greets any pro-Microsoft sentiment from the hoards of frothy-mouthed critics out there – even when issued independently – this seems tantamount to baiting them.
